Bold colors seems to rule the summer, and when it comes to the sugar flowers on your wedding cake, it's no different! And when working with sugar flowers, there's no limit to the color combinations that can be created.
Try something outside the box, like this teal orchid. Maybe it's not a flower you'd typically find in nature, but if you love a bold and bright teal, there's nothing to stop you from featuring it on your wedding cake!
Anemones are also popular this time of year. Almost reminiscent of the sunflower with its dark center and contrasting petals, but with more color selection and a little less rustic-looking. This gorgeous anemone also happens to follow that "bold colors" trend too!
Maybe you want something a little more toned down, but still lush and elegant? Greenery might be the way to go! Everything from oriental cabbage to trailing ivy and eucalyptus leaves gives your wedding that luxe and verdant feel that defines the summer. My favorite? Succulents, of course! :)
And not to break with tradition too much, the gorgeous flowers you expect to see are still trending. Flowers like dahlias, roses (of course!), and peonies are still as popular as ever, and with good reason. Bonus points if your flowers feature one of Pantone's colors of the year like Rose Quartz. And you can never go wrong with a ranunculus, which look gorgeous in any color.
It's so hard to narrow the list down to only five flowers (and somehow I snuck a few extras on the list, like dahlias and cabbage) but I've noticed quite a few bouquets and floral arrangement have hellebores peaking out of them. Also known as the Christmas or Lenten rose, they're not technically roses, but they are a pretty little flower that will complement many of the other flowers on this list.
